Today's stats: 77.9 miles. 2,869 feet of climb. So it was a long way and enough hills to remind us why our legs hurt. But got it done in about 8 hours, starting soon after 6 a.m., and finishing soon after 2, with breakfast and lunch, so we sped along.
It was a gorgeous Iowa morning, sunny but cool. Tourism Department couldn't have ordered a better one, but what seemed like a gentle breeze at first picked up steam into a persistent head wind all day. That got old!
We're at a laundromat now. Not enough bike shorts for the week. Aren't near a library, so are pecking on a phone. Hope to write more tomorrow.

My legs hurt just reading this blog! You've sure come a long way from those rides along the (flat!) Delaware & Raritan Canal oh those so many years ago...Good luck..
Four days down, just three to go and you guys are doing great! Don't lose the big mo now! Keep on pedaling!/ md
Hey guys,
Keep up the great work. When you finish the "official" ride, just keep pedaling east, and we'll meet you at the Marlin.
Good luck, and have fun.
Joe and Alex
GO, GO, GO!! I'll buy you guys a beer at The Office in Keyport if you get that far. At the rate you're going, you could make it up to Maine in no time flat ...
